This is so true. And I have created some incredible failures. Take this for example:
Purl Bee had a pattern for a felted potholder. I spent three evenings knitting this little guy, with 100% wool yarn. I threw it in the washing machine and only the green felted. So I tried again...same thing. So now I have a sad lumpy three quarter's felted trapezoid.
I think I'll try again. Which means I get to buy more yarn. And that's always a happy day!

Things that bug me lately.

1. Why is it that when I get into the tub the water is either too hot or too cold? So I have to spend the first part of what I thought was relaxation time either swirling the warm water into the cold or scalding myself for a minute or two until my body temperature adjusts. All I wanted was a bath.
And while I was there I also thought of these:
2. Mod Podge. Why? Why do you hate me? The tips for use include using a spray adhesive to adhere the paper and then applying a clear acrylic sealer before the ModPodge to reduce bubbles. Um...what exactly is the ModPodge for? What is its role in the whole song and dance of decoupaging?
Shut it down.
3. Blogging. I read a tip for being a good blogger. It was something like "Live an extraordinary life. Write down every word." An extraordinary life? That seems expensive. Filled with extreme purchases and crazy outings. "Today I knitted a chimney on my way to a mountain lion farm! Here's a pic of my new camera!"
How's that?
4. Creativity. It seems that if you have it you must prove it. Constantly. And it isn't a constant for me. It totally ebbs and flows. With the moon. Like other things. Which I am experiencing right now. Which explains my surly disposition.

It's raining here in Southern California. It rained almost all day yesterday which puts a damper on my creative plans. My "mama room" is in my basement, which is outside and downstairs. Slippery stairs. Usually I let the boys hang out and watch a movie on daddy's computer while I sew. But I don't want them walking up and down the cement stairs and it's cold. I don't like the cold.
I have a lot of ideas percolating, but then I have to go downstairs in the cold and slightly darker basement and lay out my goodies and realize it won't work and walk back upstairs and have a cookie.
You can see my white back door at the top and the top corner of my basement. the space in the middle is open. Only in Southern California. Even though when this house was built, it probably snowed here.
Also in prepping for the rain we called our cousin the fire captain. We needed some sand bags since our house is south facing on a downhill. So she set some aside for us. (Sometimes we get the neighbor's front yard washing through our backyard). We went to the fire station to pick up the sand bags and took the boys because, FIRE STATION! And not only was it an awesome fire station, but one of the fire fighters brought his son to work to celebrate his second birthday. So the boys got to sing happy birthday and get cake and ice cream! As soon as the cake and ice cream was done, a call came in and the fire truck pulled out sirens and all. Best. Day. Ever.
I can't wait to paint this house. Color suggestions?
