The Captain and Tenille

Right back on.

My little Hartwell twisted his ankle this weekend. We went to his school's Apple Blossom Festival featuring pony rides! and a bounce house! While being helped off the pony, the lady misunderestimated his weight and kind of dropped him on his ankle. He didn't cry, but was a limp-ie crank. He wanted to go into the bounce house but once inside sat and cried about how no one should be bouncing.

When we got home we decided to take him to the urgent care to make sure it wasn't broken. And get it wrapped and stuff. Plus, I was sick of carrying the big lug. He weighs 60 pounds!

Because of his size, the doctors and nurses kept saying things like, "Bring him some books to read or homework," and "what grade are you in, buddy?" Whenever I said, "He's only 4, " I was met with, "I know." You know? Really?

He's feeling a lot better. Until someone stops by to see if he's okay. Then he starts to milk the attention like crazy. And Bee joins right in.

Orange you glad I didn't say banana?

In a previous post I remarked on the sorry state of my oven mitt. I mean, it was gross. It looked like I used it to dust under my couch. A couple of my favorite readers decided to remedy the situation and bought me the most gorgeous orange oven mitts ever! Clearly these ladies are artists, who else would know about my love of high contrast?

Thank you, thank you, Elsa and Chloe! I look forward to forcing you to help me with more odd french translations and letting Bee poop in your house.

Boxing Day?

I made these little bags as Christmas gifts for my friends. Filled with these. Mostly I'm excited about the fabric. Marimekko scraps I found at the Crate and Barrel outlet for 95 cents. Super clean, pretty and cheap. It's like me in a fabric. Tutorial here.

Under the Cherry Purse

One of my good friends has three girls. Two of the three are pretty close in age to my two. Therefore, we get to go to their birthday parties and I get to make presents. The oldest girl, Maggie, is turning 6 and wants an all girl, super girly party. No boys allowed!

So Maggie sort of gets a bum deal. No cute bag, no sandwich, not even an egg. So I decided to remedy the situation and make her a pretty little thing.

She's super cute and she even chats with me sometimes! I emailed her mom and asked for her favorite color: Red! Second place? Orange! How sophisticated!

I used this tutorial. Which worked okay, but I think it needed more details. Or maybe I'm just not terribly good.

So, Happy almost Birthday, Maggie! Check your porch for details soon!

We don't need no education...

The only thing they're missing are mortar boards and tassels,...and 15 years...
